ABERGAVENNY FILM SOCIETY
Abergavenny Film Society, the longest running in Wales, was started by Dave and Carol Phillips and a group of friends in 1978.
Screening seasons of films selected from World and UK Independent Cinema titles, the Society offers carefully chosen programmes which are both diverse and inclusive. We are pleased to be able to offer high-definition picture and sound quality in a comfortable studio theatre with excellent acoustics.
We always encourage lively discussion of films and invite audience members to rate the film they have just seen. This valuable feedback helps us with future programming.
Membership of our Society is open to people aged 16 and over. Membership of our 2022-2023 Season is now full but we welcome non-members aged 18+ to our screenings.
Films are screened on Wednesdays, fortnightly, at 4.30pm and 7.30pm from September through to March. The 7.30pm screening has a 20-minute intermission when the licensed café bar will be open.
We have a limited number of seats available for non-members on a first-come-first-served basis. Doors open at 4pm and 7pm and we ask non-members to wait with a numbered ticket in the bar area until 4.20pm or 7.20pm when we know how many seats will be available.
Most of the films in our programme will be screened with subtitles.
