CAREERS WALES
Careers Wales provides free and impartial information, advice and guidance to anyone over the age of 13. Our vision is for Wales to be a nation of individuals that are inspired to take control of their careers.
We put customers at the heart of all we do and using Labour Market Information (LMI) assist with career decisions, searching and applying for jobs, understanding apprenticeships and how to apply for them as well as finding and applying for courses or work based training opportunities.
We support customers in education, starting from year 9, (could start at year 8 if doing options earlier), where we introduce our services and explore option choices and impact of long-term career decisions. The support develops and continues through school life discussing career ideas and aspirations and deepening the understanding of the current and future demands of the in other educational settings and anyone with additional learning needs and their families.
We support young people and adults age 16+ in the labour market, through Working Wales, which, launched in May 2019 is Welsh Government’s new approach to
location and accessibility. Designed to help reduce and overcome barriers to getting into work and making it easier for individuals to get the support they need. Working Wales can support customers who are unemployed or economically inactive, in training, at risk of or facing redundancy, in the youth and adult justice system or employed but looking to upskill or change direction.
Careers Wales also works with partners to provide curriculum support to facilitate employer links with schools and colleges to enrich the careers and the world of work curriculum and to help students develop a better understanding of the world of work and their future in it. We also work alongside parents and guardians to provide information and guidance to help support young people to make career decisions.
We offer our services through schools, colleges, careers centres, Jobcentre Plus, community venues, telephone helpline, webchat, e-mail and social media channels.
